02/18/11 | Shreveport, LA: Hotel Casinos, Night Life, and Hollywood Glamour

Aside from its robust gaming industry and luring downtown attractions, Shreveport, Louisiana has grown into one of the nation’s largest film producing cities. Trailing only California and New York, Shreveport, or as they like to call it, ‘Hollywood South’, is becoming a lead setting when it comes to making movies; having shot over 100 films in its backyard. The metropolitan area offers an array of incentives for production companies- from sound studios to a computer-controlled wave pool, and even the ever more appealing tax enticement.

Popular movies produced within Shreveport’s boarders include The Guardian featuring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner, The Great Debaters starring Denzel Washington, and Mad Money featuring Diane Keaton, Ted Danson, Katie Holmes, and Queen Latifah. Industry moguls look forward to visiting Louisiana’s northern city of Shreveport-hotels or penthouse stay- when filming due to its vast allure of gaming, night life, and shopping. It appears Shreveport has grown from its small town days of a few hotels and a handful of businesses, into an attractive destination adorned by entertainment and charm.

Places You Should Be - Artspace

Louisiana is known for having an unmatched appreciation for the arts. Whether through food, music, or actual art, Louisiana has always been a center for artistic expression. This week we'll take a look at a place that perfectly defines that artistic embodiment.
artspace
Artspace defines itself as a "3-level historic building that is a flexible, open space for the creation, presentation and production of all arts disciplines". This one of a kind art space definitely lives up to the hype. There are two main exhibits the "mainspace" exhibit features world famous artists and changes every 8 weeks, while the "coolspace" exhibit offers local and regional artists an opportunity to get their work out. On top of all this, Artspace still has time to offer arts classes, workshops, demonstrations, live music and an education space called "The Anderson Family Fun-A-Torium". Over the years Artspace has also become a popular spot for national/local musicians and entertainers to come and perform. Last but certainly not least, the food at artspace is also prepared with artistic flare as the cafe features fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. The staff specializes in a variety of salads, wraps and sandwiches, including the ever-popular Reuben, which is of course done the "artspace" way. The best way to sum up artspace is to take a look at the company's event calender. The upcoming event for this month... BBQ & BLUES, yup that about sums it up.

To enjoy BBQ & Blues, you'll need to make reservations at any of our Palestine, Texas Hotels.
