Excuse Me; do the words Elvis & “The Louisiana Hayride” mean anything to you?
Elvis Presley, “The King of Rock and Roll”, got his big break in Shreveport, Louisiana performing at the Louisiana Heyride. The radio show gave Presley his debut on Oct 16th, 1954,
as well as his first television appearance March 5th, 1955. At the
time, Elvis was the highest paid of all the entertainers on the show;
making a whopping eighteen dollars per performance! Obviously,
everything would work out just fine for Elvis during the remainder of
his career, as he would go on to perform at The Hayride for twelve
years, becoming arguably the biggest rock and roll star in history.
